It would be great to have more than 3 buttons at the top of the screen. Ideally, 5 or 6 buttons could represent the most common functions for each transaction. Using icons and short descriptions (example PT with a mobile icon, DLV with a truck icon, INV with $) instead of long text might help achieve this. For example, on the SO screen, it would be helpful to have buttons for allocation, pick ticket, delivery, invoice, and view documents (from DocLink) at the top, so users don’t need to access the Ellipsis for common functions. Arthur Miranda illustrated this well in an article over 6 years ago.

Don't know if this would feasible and a good idea anyway ; but the max number of buttons displayed could be a general setting, defaulted to "3" to let anybody without such requirement as is, and only ones that have specifi requirement would increase.
